Over the years many “sistahs” have come and gone but the circle has only grown. Recently a male friend commented that he could not believe we were stilling having “those meetings” well we are and we know that there are many other book clubs hanging strong.
The ladies of H.I.P.S. have been a book club for 7 years and read more than 80 books. The monthly meetings are always lively. Lately, discussing the presidential campaign has taken up a majority of our recent meetings. Our most treasured reason to meet, it’s a great excuse to relax with the girls and have fun. There is nothing better than making time to spend with friends discussing whatever comes to mind. Great food only adds to the experience.
You might think that reading groups are for book worms to indulge in their favorite passion or to have enjoyable arguments about favorite stories or characters with like-minded individuals…but book clubs actually offer many lifelong benefits
There is only one member of H.I.P.S who grew up in Minnesota. Having a dynamic group of women that have experienced the joys and pains of moving to the Twin Cities is wonderful. We have a built in network of support and friendship with value beyond measure.
Secret Life of Bees is on our list of favorites. We are looking forward to seeing the movie.
• Be picky in who you allow to become a membe
• Let every member take turns as discussion leader and host
• Don´t always follow best seller lists or other book club recommendations; make your own path
We once read a book called The Hidden Messages in Water… our secret to longevity is going with the flow!
